Day 1: Photography Dream Big

For my Dream Big Project for the second semester of Honors Humanities, I decided to learn photography. This is something I have always wanted to learn. I really like taking pictures on my phone, so I figured it would be even more fun to be able to use a camera to take even better pictures. Also, I really appreciate when parents take action shots of my soccer games and then share them with the team. My goal for this project is to learn about different cameras and lenses, different types of lighting, and what each setting does on a camera.
Today I watched some videos on YouTube about photography for beginners. I learned about different types of lighting and how to adjust to them. The "Golden Hour" is the hour right around sunset. It is supposedly the best lighting to shoot in. I also learned about how to position models and how to make poses look more natural. I plan on having my sister model for my pictures. I think it will be a win-win situation because I'll get to practice taking pictures of people, and she'll get good quality pictures (hopefully) that she can post on her social media.
